The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC) Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR, has reminded officers and men of the Corps who are going to benefit from the new promotion list announced by the supervising board of the Corps to know that the new ranks will bring added responsibilities and also underscore the importance of their continued commitment, discipline, loyalty and hard work.
It will be recalled that on Friday 01/12/2023, the Civil Defence, Immigration Correctional and Fire Service Board( CDICFSB) approved the promotion of 32,361 personnel of the four services/agencies supervised by the Federal Ministry of Interior.
The NSCDC has the highest number of promoted officers and men with 21,355 out of the total 32,361 of the promoted personnel across the four services in the Interior Ministry.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, who disclosed this to the newsmen after the board meeting in Abuja on Friday also commended the President and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the rare and kind gesture and continued support to the board and its chairman; the minister of interior Dr Tunji Ojo adding that the NSCDC is already on the same page with the renewed hope agenda of the President and bid to reposition the para military agencies.
The CG also commends officers and men of the corps for their unwavering dedication and commitment but tasks them not to relent as the government is expecting more from the NSCDC in terms of effective and professional service delivery adding that ” to whom much is given, much is expected.
About 5years ago, it was speculated Mr Ibu was paid about 80million by GOtv for ambassadorship. And also GLO, about 20-30million. Same with Chiwetalu Agu and some other aging Nollywood stars. Amaechi Muonago had series of advert he got paid for and other contracts, not adding up the pay as an actor.
The question I have asked myself a thousand times is where are all the monies? The deal, the contract etc! Where did they bury it. I am ashamed on behalf of these actors each time they are sick and they appear online for help. Like, what in the blue-hell happened to all they have earned all through the years? Even people who don’t get paid half of what they are paid take care of their health when it is worse. And I ask, did they use the money to train their kids? Fine, their kids should be taking care of them. Or was it house rent? Like, they had no investment with all the millions they are paid? Today, Natty Bruce, the Karat Nollywood karate king died too. Report came he died from the said hardship that has ravaged the Nollywood legends: sickness.
We have had Clem Ohameze came online to beg for help while sick. Ernest Asuzu suffered liver disease and died even after been helped online. James, Obi Madubugwu and the list so long have all come online for help and many of them couldn’t still make it. The question is, are these men not being paid enough to save and invest against those terrible times? Even the ones paid in millions. What happened to the money? Please don’t get me wrong. I am not judging these men, not even a spite. I am making a statement for our youths who have future. You have to start saving and investing no matter the amount of money you make now. You have to be deliberate about this. I don’t know who is reading this but please, in the name of God you serve, start saving and diversifying your income, the grass does not remain greener always. There are times it withers.
Serge Gnabry, the former Arsenal player told a story of when he broke into Arsenal first team and they paid him a few thousand pounds and he began spending money on wears and bags and one day, his mother called him to order and told him, “save and invest, son. This period may never last forever.” Like joke, a few months, he got injured and fell out of favor. Arsenal had to send him to West Brom to see if he could recover. He dropped drastically until he left England to Germany. And guess what? That period, he wasn’t on a payroll. He was broke. His parents lent him money. After his career revived in Germany, the first he began doing was cut expenses and invested. He learnt the hard way. I don’t have to exhaust my head here. But, let he that hath ears, hear.
The Federal Government had reiterated it’s commitment to enhance professionalism in the Ministry of Youth Development to provide a strong base for youth workers just like other professional ministries ie, the likes of Federal Ministry of Health and Education
The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim gave the assurance on Thursday, 9th November, 2023 in Abuja while delivering her speech in an occasion organised by the Nigeria Youth Workers Association, ( NYWA), to mark the International Youth work Week with the theme ” Youth Work in every place and space”
A statement signed by Head of Press, Maryam Umar Yusuf on Thursday, said,The theme is a powerful call to action. It challenges us to recognise the potentials within our Youth, irrespective of the setting they find themselves in – be it the serene landscapes of parks, the nurturing environment of Youth centres, compassionate halls of hospitals, or the vibrant classrooms of schools .
The Minister reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to providing the tools and resources necessary for youth to thrive.
She urged the youth to remember that Nigeria’s future lies in their hands, adding that while some may decide to leave the country, those who remain are entrusted with the noble responsibility of building the nation.
Dr. Ibrahim expressed optimism that her administration would inject professionalism into the Ministry and create skilled manpower as well as jobs for the youth.
She said that the launching of transformative programs and commencement of certificate programmes such as the Youth Training and Certification will equip the youth with the necessary skills for an evolving economy and would provide a platform for the Ministry to continue to grow and improve its activities.
“This is a major step in professionalising the Ministry” she added.

Also Speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, who was represented by the Director Enterprise Development and Promotion Department, Mr. Momoh Olugbenga underscored the importance of youth development to national prosperity and called on all youth workers in the country to come together to promote the interest of the youth.
Alhaji Ismaila noted that no nation can afford to neglect its youth. “Any country that neglects her youth does so at her own peril, that’s why the federal government appointed two energetic youth as ministers to steer the affairs of the Ministry.” He said.
In his welcome address, the President of the Niigeria Youth Workers Association (NYWA), Mr Ben Duntoye said the event which holds annually across the world is designed to put to the front burner issues of Youth Work globally and an avenue to highlights the positive impact it has on young people.
He said this year’s youth work week is being celebrated by his association to illuminate the contributions of Youth Workers wherever they are.
Giving background of the association, Mr. Duntoye said the Nigeria Youth Workers Association is an umbrella body for Youth work practisoiners and a platform for them to be connected, effective, ethical and accountable to themselves, their communities and to the young people they work with.
Nigeria Youth Workers Association is the umbrella body for all youth workers and practitioners in Nigeria.
He added that the Association, which was established in 2019, had held four major national events, which include national stakeholders forum in December 2019, international youth work week and conference in Port-harcourt, Rivers State in November. 2020, National Convention and Elections held in Nov. 2021 in the Ministry and the international youth work week 2022.
Dunyoye disclosed that NYWA has inaugurated 18 State chapters to date with a temporary national secretariat in Abuja.
He also disclosed that NYWA is recognised by the Commonwealth Youth program and the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA), adding that the Association has actively participated in various international meetings and conferences.
The NYWA President, who pledged the unalloyed support of his Association to the Honourable Minister, praised her commitment to the professionalisation of youth work in Nigerian.
The Federal Government has expressed its determination to continue to collaborate with the corporate and private sector organisations to unlock economic potentials of sports in the country.
The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh gave the assurance today in his office at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja, when he met with the members of the Dream Sports Africa led by its Country Director, Mr Michael Anejo.
Senator Owan Enoh stated that the new vision and thinking of government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu now is that sports is seen as both recreation and business. This he said, was the right approach to jumpstart the desired transformation of sports in our country.
He stated that with this new vision of government, the Federal Ministry of Sports Development under his watch, will continue to keep its door open to collaboration with relevant stakeholders, private sector investors, the civil society organisations as well as the global sports community in order to join hands with the Federal Government in its effort to fully unlock the economic potentials of sports in Nigeria and in the process, unleash one of the most consequential transformations of the 21st century.
The Minister stated further that sports has a great potential for wealth creation, employment generation, poverty alleviation, social inclusivity and the ability to make substantial contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Senator Owan Enoh noted that private sector organisations have a critical role to play in unlocking these opportunities but that this huge potential has been squandered due to inaction and missed priorities.
He called on the private sector investors and major players in the industry to take advantage of the incentives put in place by the current administration to invest massively in the development of sports in Nigeria.
Besides, Senator Owan Enoh explained that in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration, the government has endosed the National Sports Industry Policy (NSIP) approved by the immediate past administration and that the Ministry was committed to ensuring the implementation of the policy especially, in areas such as expanding and improving School Sports Games, implementing a strategic plan to define the growth path for discovered talents, improved welfare for athletes and Public Private Partnerships for upgrade of essential sports infrastructure across the country.
Speaking earlier, the Director, Dream Sports Africa, Mr Michael Anejo thanked the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, for accepting to meet with their organisation to discuss likely areas of collaboration that will drive Sports Development across the country in spite of his busy schedule.
He assured that his organisation will go back to the drawing board and identify critical areas it needs to partner with the Ministry and the Federal Government in its effort at ensuring the realization of the policy objectives of the present administration as it relates to sports development in line with global realities.
Managing Director/ CEO Hospitality and Tourism services in Nigeria Limited, Dr Obinna Ugochukwu Alexander Onyeocha on Tuesday, 7th November 2023 visited the Guinea Bissau, Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
The visit, still in the interest of promoting Domestic and Eco Tourism, Dr Obinna Ogochukwu has said, 5 out of the 15 countries they had written responded and he is visiting them as the third.
He was received by Mr. Ligio Vale ( First Secretary), and Mr. Amadu Musa Hadari, (Director General/CEO), Nigeria -Guinea Bissau, Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
He said African countries has a lot of positive natural resources that are not talked about which he feels should be awaken, developed and promoted .
He stressed that he has decided to utilize the ample of time to call for collaboration starting with the west Africa countries before the 3rd edition of National Conference for Domestic and Eco Tourism in Nigeria, 2024.
Responding, the Ambassador of Guinea -Bissau to Nigeria and Permanent Representative of Guinea -Bissau at the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Joao Ribeiro Butiam CO who was represented by the MD/CEO Nigeria -Guinea Bissau Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, Mr Ahmed was elated at the visit and called for patronage to the 88 islands in Guinea Bissau for utmost recreation.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the election of Hon. Joshua Audu Gana of the People Democratic Party (PDP) for the Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency, Niger State (2023-2027).
Responding to the historical judgement, Hon Gana said: “My dear Constituents on Wednesday, 1st November 2023, the Court of Appeal Abuja delivered a historic ruling on Appeal CA/ABJ/EP/HR/59/2023 where the Judges unanimously affirmed the mandate you freely gave me on February 25, 2023 election as the duly and rightful winner of that election.”
It could be recalled that that the National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal on September, 11th 2023 nullified Gana’s election and of which Hon. Gana appealed that judgement at the appellate Court.
“The affirmation by the Court of Appeal truly brings to rest the contest for our Federal Constituency,” he said.
The Court of Appeal on Wednesday, a three-man member unanimously upheld the argument by the lawyer of Gana, that the Tribunal was wrong to have held in favour of the petition, Abdullahi Usman Gbatamagi and the All Progressive Party (APC).
Describing the judgement, Gana said: “Our victory at the Court, which is a clear reflection of what happened on Election day reinforces the principle that the judiciary is the final hope for the common man and democracy.”
Still speaking on the judgment, he said that when the Election Petition Tribunal ruled against him on September, 11th 2023, he was sure that it would not stand, “I was optimistic that the tribunal had erred and that travesty of justice was not going to stand and today, their Lords at the Court of Appeal agreed with us that we won the elections,” he said.
He promised all inclusive representative saying, “We will not take the electorate for granted. We see the judgement as an opportunity to serve our people as a means of deepening the democratic culture and all hands must be on the deck in serving our people,” he promised.
To his constituents, he made more promises to them saying, “I wish to assure you my good constituents that I am more than ever ready to serve and will be more focused and consistent in drawing attention to issues affecting our constituency and follow through until solutions and resolutions are found.”
He called on his APC counterpart not to see the judgement as a blow, but to join hands with him in bringing development to their constituents. “I urge my brother and friend Hon. Abdullahi Usman to see the outcome as a true expression of the people’s will and God’s doing and give all the support that is required for the good of our people as we shall be magnanimous even in victory,” he said.

The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim has increasingly recognized the unique role that youth can play in development.

The Minister made this known when she received in her office senior officials of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, (NYP), who were led on a courtesy visit to her by their Speaker, Azeezat Yishawu, on Tuesday 31st October, 2023 in Abuja.
The Minister applauded Yishawu for carefully and responsibly managing the activities of youth entrusted to her.
” I have watched from a distance and seen how she is steering the ship of the Nigeria Youth Parliament and she has done marvelously well. It is my hope and desire to see that you evolve into bigger responsibilities and take on bigger roles,” Dr. Ibrahim said
This is your Ministry, this is your home. I have taken note of all your challenges, requests and of course, all the good work that the Parliament has done, which is very impressive and the Ministry will take all necessary steps to address the challenges”, she added.
The Minister promised to study the report on the National Youth Security Summit, adding that she is very passionate about women and youth.
She said, “When it comes to youth and women, this is my passion, especially supporting them because I see myself in them.”
She attributed the success of Yishawu partly to the support she enjoyed from the male members of the Parliament and called for the need to give women more space to exhibit their leadership qualities.
The Director Network and Social Mobilisation Department of the Ministry, Hajiya Amina Daura went down memory lane to remind the Minister that the Nigerian Youth Parliament was formally inaugurated in 2008 under the administration of Umaru Musa Yar’adua in line with the United Nations call on member states to establish a platform through which Young people can adequately contribute to decision making processes on issues that concern them as well as inculcate in them democratic principles and leadership qualities
She added that the current session, which is the fifth, was inaugurated on the 9th of December, 2021 and has a non-renewable term of two years.
Hajiya Daura disclosed that the NYP serves as a training ground for preparing young people for leadership roles and allows them to make inputs in decisions and matters that affect them
Earlier speaking, the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon Azeezat Yishawu reiterated the youths support to help her achieve her mandate
“we are here today to assure the Minister that the Nigerian Youth are behind her and ready to provide all the necessary support to help her succeed.”
Yishawu noted that the responsibility of the Minister is huge as she is responsible for about half of the population of the country.
The Speaker NYP, told the Minister that the youth Parliament had also come to avail her with a comprehensive report on the research it had carried out on about twenty states across the country which will be helpful in policy formulation and programne implementation that will greatly impact positively on the Youth.
She disclosed that the Nigerian Youth Parliament under her leadership had carried out some activities such as the National Youth Security Summit that was held last year to examine how young people can participate in keeping the peace in the country, research on drug abuse due to the sudden increase in cases of drug abuse and social vises by young people and issues relating to Youth employment.
Revealing some of the challenges bedevilling the Parliament, the Nigeria Youth Parliament complained that it was short of funds and that it had impeded the execution of many of its programmes.

He informed Gouda of the Committee’s enthusiasm and strong desire to strengthen their relationship with Burkina Faso, particularly through education, with the aim of deepening educational cooperation
