Over 1200 Youths Support Groups of the All Progressives Congress, APC across the six geopolitical zone have passionately appealed to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to appoint Dr Doyin Johnson Minister of Youth Affairs and Development
The groups under the umbrella body of ‘Dr Doyin Johnson Committee For Ministerial Appointment’ And Coalition of APC Support Group Leaders, said the appeal has become resoundingly imperative for Dr Johnson’s appointment as Nigeria’s next Minister of Youth Affairs and Development, given the current critical and worrisome stage where the role of the youths are needed in shaping Nigeria’s future.
They described Dr Johnson as a patriotic, dedicated epitome and vision of Nigerian youths, who is dedicated to the progress of the country from a history of transformative initiatives and an unwavering allegiance to the nation.
According to a text of address, read by the Director General of the committee for ministerial appointment of Dr. Doyin Johnson, Comrade Ajayi Taiwo , he noted that the ministerial hopeful was a man of the Youth who had the ability to connect with young Nigerians. With a combined strategic acumen, pragmatic leadership and doggedness, he is the man fit for the job
Taiwo who presented a 11- point Appeal to President Tinubu, admitted that the President was known for rewarding loyalty and hardwork, and therefore, pleaded with him to consider Dr Johnson , who has not only been involved in advancement of Nigeria’s democratic process since 1994 by mobilizing the youths towards achieving democratic ideas against military dictatorship which the President is known
Similarly, it is on record that since 1999 when Nigeria again embraced democracy, Dr Johnson has promoted programs that advanced the aspirations of the youths within the political parties, AD, AC, ACN, and APC, and the nation at large
In addition the Committee revealed that over 523 youths support group nationwide are also pleading Dr Johnson’s cause, following his rich credentials as one who is ideal and prepared for the job as encapsulated in the 11 point Appeal, among others , also endorsed by Hon. Umar Yakub Yunusa , Secretary of the Appeal committee and his publicity counterpart, Ms. Susan Willie
